The Sapporo Autumn Fest began in 2008. The Nanachome venue and its theme on "alcoholic beverages and snacks sourced in Hokkaido," is the perfect place to enjoy various types of alcohol such as wines, Japanese sake, shochu, whisky, spirits, and craft beers made right here in Hokkaido!

Masahisa Abe

Born in Miyagi prefecture in 1974(Showa 49), at the age of 23, became the youngest to certified as a sommelier, and at the age of 32 became a certified senior sommelier. Abe moved to Otaru in 2000 based on his belief that Hokkaido would become one of the many wine countries of the world. Since then he worked in the administrative planning department of the Hokkaido Wine Company, and in 2013 established his own business. Usually he works at the "Hokkaido University Wine Education and Research Center" working closely with the Hokkaido Government and Hokkaido Winery Association to promote wines made in Hokkaido. His experience, knowledge, rich tasting commentaries and suggestions for pairing wines with Hokkaido foods offer a great deal of learning and discovery, which has gained him recognition as the forerunner in Hokkaido wines.
